Nicknames: Gracie, Grace (usually when she's doing something she shouldn't), My My, Maya Baya, Boo
Weight & Height: All I know is tall!! I'll have the specifics from her appointment in a few weeks.
Hair: And my inclinations were correct... she is a brown-haired child! At least what little of it there is! She has the least amount of hair of all of our kids at this age.
Favorite foods: Shortly after turning 9 months old, Maya decided she was too big for baby food and would only eat "big people" food. We started chopping up everything we were eating into teeny-tiny pieces and she'd just eat with us. She even took it to an extreme for awhile and wouldn't even let me feed her yogurt or anything that required help from someone else. Oh she's so independent :) Maya is starting to show some food preferences though... she likes any and all fruit, peas, green beans, any and all carbs (just like her mom and dad!) and anything salty. She's not a huge fan of much meat, but if it is the least bit salty she'll inhale it.
Favorite Drink: At 9 1/2 months old I cut back to nursing Maya only 3 times a day. She is supplemented with formula in a sippy cup a few times a day. Somewhere along the way (right around 9 1/2 months) without realizing it, Maya completely gave up bottles and started drinking only from a sippy cup. I was sad after I realized it happened, but knew there was no turning back. She also drinks water and water with about an ounce of apple juice in it every once in awhile.
Favorite toys: Honestly her favorite things to play with are things she's not suppose to have....
Favorite books: As I said in a previous post, I have been working on getting this kid to enjoy books and it is finally working! Everyday we have reading time together and she really enjoys it now! She's into turning the pages and likes books with bright pictures. Her favorite books currently are "I Love You Baby" and "The Bunny Hop"
Favorite stuffed animal: Teddy! She's not as attached as her sisters are to their animals, but they still have a special bond :)
Favorite Person: Leaning heavily towards Daddy... nothing lights up her world quite like Daddy. She moves her body as fast as possible to the door when he gets home at night and she gets very clingy in the morning when she knows he has to leave for work.
Bedtime: All of her sleep habits are in transition currently. She will go down for bed typically between 7:00 and 7:30.
Wake-up time: She stopped waking up for 3:00 feedings right after 9 months. It only took two nights of letting her cry for a few minutes and it was over with... not sure why we didn't try that earlier ;) She's varied between a 5:30 am wake up time to 8:00 wake up time in the past few months. She's all over the board, with the most typical times being between 6:30 and 7:00.
Naps: She is trying to transition from two naps per day to one, thus all the issues with our current sleep schedule. When she wakes up 7:00 or later, she doesn't take a nap until late morning/early afternoon and will sleep for a solid 2- 3 1/2 hours. If she gets up early (6:30 or earlier) then she still goes down for a morning nap at 9:00/9:30 and sleeps for quite awhile. The days she takes a morning nap it is hit or miss if I get her to take an afternoon nap that day (thus affecting her bed time and creating the sleep chaos that we are currently in.)
What she's saying: Dada, Mama, Nena (Makenna), TeEe (Teddy), BaBy (Bye Bye), Ii (Hi)
Latest Accomplishment: The most exciting is definitely taking her first steps at 11 months old. That night she took one step a few times, then two steps a few times and it culminated in 3 steps!! She was so proud! She continues to practice a few steps at a time and I assume she will be walking in a month or so (Makenna and Maryn were always about a month between first steps and full walking). She is also standing up without holding on to anything and she is a pro at climbing stairs and other objects. She started climbing stairs shortly after learning to crawl, but now is quite fast at it. She's up the stairs in a flash. And the other morning I found her sitting inside the toy box :)
Likes: baths, trying to sneak up the stairs or into the bathroom, getting in the frig and pulling stuff out, chewing/sucking on things, gold fish crackers, digging through cupboards and drawers, brushing her teeth
Dislikes: getting her diaper changed (she wiggles any way she can to get out of it), getting dressed, getting her nose wiped
Best known for: Swinging her head around when she's trying to be goofy :) We started calling her Stevie Wonder because that's what she reminds us of!
Health: Maya had a bad cold for about 10 days in January. There was really only one rough night so we were blessed.
How she's like Daddy: She's a ham and loves to make people laugh.
How she's like Mommy: She's a very good baby.
Interesting Tidbits: She finally has more teeth! Her first tooth that came in at 9 months was closely followed by two more teeth within a week or two. Then another top tooth followed shortly behind those and another one this week! And Maya has inherited her mommy's gap between her two front teeth.
Yes yes... I'm pretty sure this t-shirt was made specifically for her. Isn't she precious?!
Baby Maya - You have been such a blessing to our family! God has been so good to us! We enjoyed every moment of your first year with you and can't wait to watch you grow in the years to come! You bring such joy to everyone around you! We love you Boo and are so glad that you are our little girl!
