Maryn Soccer 2010

Maryn's soccer season was painful this year... painful for the spectators that is. She participated in the Little Kickers program through the Rec Center, which we had enjoyed for two previous years with Makenna. Apparently they hired new help this year because the organization and coaching were horrible. There were numerous times we almost left mid-game due to the utter chaos. But we stuck it out because Maryn really liked it... minus the times when she wouldn't get to kick the ball (due to a ball hog on her team and the fact that they'd play the ENTIRE team at once) or she'd get hurt because there were too many kids on the field. Luckily, she isn't shy about getting right in there and going after the ball. As she runs by we can even hear her yelling "Hey boy! That's my ball!" "Hey girl! Bring that ball back!" Hilarious! The highlight of the season had to be one night when Maryn got a hold of the ball and was kicking it down field toward the goal. The coaches were horrible at enforcing inbounds/out of bounds all season and this night was no exception. Maryn kicked the ball past the goal and just kept on going... and going... and going. With a trail of probably 8 or 9 kids following her all the way across Noelridge park. The coaches never blew the whistle so how were they to know to stop???!!! Maryn seriously made it all the way over to another soccer field across the park before the coach caught up with her and physically took the ball away from her!!! Josh and I were laughing so hard. You gotta love 4 year old soccer!
