Maya's Favorite Things

Maya has a few favorite things lately. Below you can see many of them in pictures....

Her 1st favorite thing - the stairs. Note that the gate is moved to the side (which she does all by herself) just so she can sit behind the gate to drink her milk.

Not so sure how the gate got closed again ???

And this looks like a guilty look (along with a horrible runny nose from when she was sick)

This time playing on the stairs. She SO knows she's not suppose to be up there.

This particular night the gate wasn't up so she had free reign of the stairs. As soon as she figures out the stairs are open, her little arms and legs go into turbo mode. And if she happens to make it as far as getting up the stairs before we notice, she will sit there and watch us until we notice her. Once we notice her she will climb frantically trying to get to the top before we get her.

And with all the time she spends on the stairs (supervised of course) she is already capable of coming down the stairs successfully all by herself. Last weekend she made it all the way from the top to the bottom all by herself (with mommy right by her side).

Her 2nd favorite thing - Mommy's necklace.

This necklace can honestly keep her content for an hour straight. She loves it! One day she was extremely fussy and Josh and I couldn't figure out what she wanted. Finally we figured out she could see my necklace up on the counter and couldn't get to it herself.

Trying so hard to get it over her head.

And success! The necklace is on... now she will take it off and repeat the whole process 20 more times ;)

At first she tried to put the necklace in her mouth on a few occassions (which made me very nervous) but has learned that if she does that Mommy will take her necklace away. She is a fast learner :)

3rd favorite thing - reading books

I tried for so long (with little success) to get this child to like books. Proving that persistence is everything, she has finally turned into a book worm. She sits contentedly on my lap numerous times a day for a dozen or more books at a time.

This is currently one of her favorites.... a Sesame Street lift-the-flap book.

Really working hard and concentrating on this one.

4th favorite thing... Teddy. She loves Teddy, she really does. She gets so excited when she sees him and gives him lots of hugs and slobbery kisses (his nose is always crusty from her slobbery kisses). But when he's not around, she doesn't seem to notice. I told Josh the other night that I have a feeling she's not going to be as attached to Teddy as our other two girls are to their two animals. He immediately went to find Teddy so she could play with him some more. I guess it's hard to give something up when it's worked so well with your other two children.
